We specialise in bespoke cuts with an instinctive understanding of hair. Our stylists, based at our salon in Falmouth, Cornwall, have been trained to ensure your style suits you and your lifestyle.
We start with our Eight Step Consultation to fully understand what your dream hair will look like. It’s useful to bring in a few photographs so we can meet your hair goals!
Our hair stylists will analyse your hair type, discuss your home hair-care routine and any problem you may have.
The Kevin Murphy Experience
Every valued client gets to experience a facial for their hair! How? We don’t offer dry cuts in our salon, so as part of your treatment you’ll be given a hair detox – a mild hair and scalp exfoliate to remove any product or oil build up.
We then custom match a shampoo and conditioner to your hair to ensure the best products can solve hair concerns or issues.
You can create the Kevin Murphy Experience at home, as we also sell all of the products we use on your hair.
Finding the right stylist
Our stylists are highly trained in cutting, but certain stylists specialise in specific areas of hair cutting. Feel free to tell us what you’d like, so we can select the perfect stylist for you.
We guarantee you’ll never feel rushed and offer complete transparency with pricing meaning no awkward surprises at the end of your service. Click below to visit our price list or book your appointment today.
Why we don’t offer wet or dry cuts
You may wonder why we don’t offer a simple wet or a dry cut, here are the reasons why…
Benefits of cutting hair wet
Cutting wet hair offers you a great deal of control. This may be necessary when working with heavier densities and coarser textures that may prove problematic when cut dry.
The moisture in the hair acts as both a lubricant and adhesive, binding hair and acting as a sort of detangler, making it easier to part and secure. Wet hair also has a greater elasticity than dry hair. This helps the hair to stretch more, resulting in strong shapes that are retained for long periods of time.
Cutting dry hair
When you’re cutting hair dry, you see the shape as it’s forming, you get a much more definite look, because you see the hair as it is. It takes the guessing game out of wet cuts. When you’re cutting hair wet, you really don’t get to see what the cut is looking like until you dry it.
In our training we refer to it like working on a sculpture — you’re curving it, you’re cutting it and in the end you have the most amazing shape in front of you.
Can the techniques be combined?
The techniques can not only be combined—they should be!
Here at NV we recommend cutting hair while it is wet and then again when it is dry, this is the best way to ensure a flawless haircut and you truly can customise your haircut together with your stylist.
